NDIS and Allied Health Support on the Sunshine Coast

On the Sunshine Coast our strength is allied health and therapeutic supports, delivered from Caloundra and Beerwah in the south through to Noosa and Cooroy in the north. Most participants here are after capacity-building rather than assistance alone, and we staff for that. Services available on the Sunshine Coast include:

Assist Personal Activities
Community Nursing Care
Daily Tasks Shared Living
Development Life Skills
Household Tasks
Community Participation
Therapeutic Supports
Group Centre Activities
Mental Health
Life Stage Transitions
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching
Supported Independent Living

Capacity-building, not just assistance

Occupational therapists, psychologists and social workers sit at the centre of our Sunshine Coast team rather than on the edge of it. That shifts the emphasis towards therapeutic supports, positive behaviour support implementation, development of life skills and life stage transitions, with personal care and nursing wrapped around them where they are needed. Sunshine Coast University Hospital at Birtinya and Nambour General are both regular referral points, and we take hospital-to-home work from each.

Coast and hinterland coverage

Along the coastal strip we cover Caloundra, Kawana Waters, Birtinya, Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headland, Maroochydore, Coolum, Peregian and Noosa. Inland we work through Sippy Downs, Buderim, Nambour, Yandina and Cooroy. In the hinterland we reach Beerwah, Landsborough, Maleny, Montville and Mapleton. Maleny, Kenilworth and the far hinterland take real travel time, so we schedule those visits in blocks rather than scattering them across the week.

Goals you can actually practise

A capacity-building goal is worthless if there is nowhere to rehearse it, and the Sunshine Coast is unusually good for this. Travel training runs on the Caloundra and Maroochydore bus network and on the North Coast rail line at Landsborough and Nambour. Beach wheelchairs are available at Mooloolaba and Kings Beach. Our workers are briefed on the accessible facilities in their own area so a session has a destination, not just an hour.
